is part of the entertaining part of the con. He is quite a character, and I am pleased to consider him a friend. Zip (below) registered too late to get a room at the hotel, and so I let him sleep in my room. He claims it was quite comfortable sleeping across those three chairs.
| | This year in the lockpicking room, there was a speed contest called "Gringo Warrior". The plot of the game is that you've been arrested in Tijuana and have to escape and get back across the border to USA. There are five locks to pick: a pair of handcuffs, the jail cell door, a filing cabinet door (to retrieve your passport), the jail house door, and a car (to
speed your getaway). To each lock there are three levels (easy, medium and difficult), and the higher level you achieve, the more points you receive. You are given five minutes to complete the task and get away. If you finish in less than the five minutes, you receive an extra point for each remaining second. I am still amazed at the speed at which I was able to get past all five locks. I did three of the locks at the medium level (including getting out of the
handcuffs behind my back), one at the difficult level (the filing cabinet), and one at the easy level (the car). I finished in one minute, twenty one seconds, thereby receiving 219 points just for the time. My final score was 529, the highest, and I won an art picture.
