Calgary Rodeo


	Canada with Andrew Rodeo June 28 and 29, 2008






			I always love watching horses at work, and the pole bending event showed some remarkable equines in action.


		There were several events at this rodeo that I'd never previously seen. With Andrew's great sense of humor, we were laughing for many of them. Our favorite events were putting underwear on the goats, who at first seemed to resent it but later seemed more to resent being UNdressed again. click on any photo to see an enlargement


	Other events included: Wild Drag Race, in which three team members (one of whom is dressed in drag) had to get a steer to cross a set line first, then mount the steer and have the other two get the steer to cross back over that line. Steer Wrestling, where the contestant starts inside the shoot with the steer and then has to allow the steer to cross a line before he/she wrestles the animal to the ground. Tying a Ribbon on the Steer's Tail, with two persons per team. Stake in the Bucket, where the contestant rides his horse past one bucket and grabs a stake, runs the route to a different bucket and has to stick it into the bucket. and of course, there were many of the events familiar to me from back home.

This was the most fun I've ever had at a rodeo. The weather was wonderful, and the seating is shaded. The events were different and varied. But the biggest reason it was so much fun was because of Andrew's great sense of humor. He kept me laughing almost the entire time.
