Every year in the foothills, tarantulas migrate.  The males are trying to find a lady friend with whom they can make baby tarantulas.  Coarsegold honors these spiders with their annual Tarantula Festival.

I enjoyed seeing how different people reacted to the creepy crawlies.  I even got to hold one myself, the first time since I was a kid.  (See my big smile?)  It was fun!

The festival schedule provides many activities, including hula hoop and screaming contests, pizza eating, limbo, and tarantula racing.

The Coarsegold Tarantula Festival is a lot of fun!  I heartily recommend it if you live nearby.
