During our
night time tour, Thomas told us that the best ice cream in the entire city was Sanoni and Sanoni, and so we tried it. Indeed, that is just about the best ice cream I have ever tasted. yummy!
The evening we arrived in Vienna, our city host Thomas drove us around Old Town and then walked us through a part of it. The next day, Johnny and I walked through it ourselves, in order to see everything in the light of day. It was interesting both at night and in the daytime. We walked for about two
hours, in and out of the streets, in order to see as much as we could.
On one of the side streets of Old Town, we came across this clock. Can you see that it shows the hour, minutes, and even the date? It is difficult to see everything in this photo, unfortunately. But it is a fascinating clock.
Shonbrunn Palace is outside of Old Town, but it is a beautiful building. The grounds around the palace are amazing, with gardens and fountains everywhere.
Johnny saw this ride from the ferris wheel and wanted to try it. This contraption takes four riders at a time
and spins them and somersaults them around for several minutes. He loved this ride and said he would have spent the entire day on it if he could afford it.
Another of the things on our list of "must do" was the huge ferris wheel at Prater Park. We took the metro to it and rode up in it. It offered a nice view of that part of town, but it is not exactly the most exciting ride I've ever
been on. It goes very slowly, so that you can enjoy the view. Each of those cars on the wheel holds over a dozen people.
Instead, we spent nearly an hour wandering through a Fun House. This was the first time Johnny had ever been inside of one, and from the huge smile on his face, I would bet it won't be his last!
