Solo Backpacking In Ansel Adams Wilderness July 2004
Emboldened by a successful backpacking trip with Dan and his son, I decided to do get up into the Ansel Adams Wilderness again on my own. I took two trips during the month of July.
I headed into an area of the Ansel Adams Wilderness I had not previously visited. On prior trips I had gone up this same trail a few miles, but these two trips I hiked further and discovered an area not often visited by others.
There are so many lakes in the Ansel Adams Wilderness that are rarely seen by people. This one is occasionally visited by a day fisherman who has camped elsewhere. Imagine: A sparkling twenty five acre lake all my own!
During my first visit to this lake, I stayed right at the lake, swimming, walking, sitting, enjoying the beauty and exploring. The second trip I hiked up a
nearby ridge to yet another lake, much smaller, much colder, and even more rarely visited.
