| I purchased some play chips at 4 Queens and lost rather quickly at craps. I then moved down to the El Cortez Hotel and played about five hours over two days at Seven Card Stud. I won some and lost
more. It was fun. I didn't bluff often, since I am no good at it. I dropped out of a hand or two when I didn't need to. I played other hands longer than I should have. I enjoyed the camaraderie at the table, which surprised me since everyone is trying to beat everyone else. From my play, I received a $5 comp at the restaurant. Besides that, I had also two coupons that I used at the El Cortez: one for a dinner (T-bone steak) and movie (Man On
Fire) for $4.25 and one for a free breakfast (bacon and eggs). I previewed some of the rooms at the El Cortez Hotel and found them to be larger and nicer than at the Four Queens, where I have now stayed twice. Since I can get a better rate at the El Cortez, I think that I will stay there during my next trip. The rooms in the tower are large enough to hold two queen beds and a couch. The rooms in the older parts of the hotel are not as large. | |
