| | While we were atop the Eiffel Tower, we watched one of the Bellagio's Water Shows. It is quite impressive from that high, because we could see the overall design and effect better than on the ground. | | | | | | | | Another free show that we very much enjoyed was the Air Play at the Tropicana Casino. In this show, several ladies performed a dance number on the stage, and there was a
man who was the best balanced person I have ever seen. It was amazing how well he could balance on balls and tubes. My favorite part, though, was the acrobat part where two men hung on a rope that traveled the length of the showroom. As the rope moved back and forth, they did spins and somersaults while holding onto the rope. | | | | | | | My favorite part of this particular visit to Las Vegas was the full production musical "Mamma Mia", performed at The Mandalay Bay Theater. This was the first time I have
ever been to the live theater, and I do enjoy music. (After all, they don't call me "Whistler" for nothing.)
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | The Paris Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas has a one-half size replica of the Eiffel Tower in France. It costs nine dollars to ride to the top, and you can stay up there at the top for as long as you like. The view from the top of the Eiffel Tower seems more impressive than the much taller Stratosphere further down The Strip, because it is so
much closer to all the big Strip Casinos in Vegas.
Nevertheless, I enjoy watching the Bellagio's Water Show up close and personal, from right next to the lake in which it is performed. I enjoy hearing the booming sounds of the water shooting out of their nozzles, and I like being overwhelmed by the beautiful music that is played with each show. From atop the Eiffel Tower across the street, we could hear all the other sounds of the city, not just the music and water sounds. I will likely view the
Water Show from both locations again. | | | | | | | | One of my favorite free shows in Las Vegas is the Fremont Experience in downtown Las Vegas. A few years ago, the city closed off Fremont Street in downtown Las Vegas and spanned the street with a mesh of lights. The show is performed at the top of each hour after dark, and each one is different. We were fortunate enough to get there for the one that is my favorite. It starts off with a bird flying down the street and proceeds to become a space ship that
travels to another planet. The lights and music are quite impressive. | | | | | | | | We had very good seats, high enough to see everything and yet close enough to still see the performers' faces. I enjoyed myself immensely. The story has been reviewed many other places on the internet (in the many Las Vegas websites), and so I won't go into it here. Suffice it to say that the couple who sat next to us, who had attended Mamma Mia three previous times, enjoyed it enough to still plan on watching it
twice more. | |
