With Lady gone to her new home, I no longer have a horse to ride here at home.  Teri let me go with her on one of her weekend rides to the high country of the Sierra Nevada.  I figured we would do a two hour ride and then return home.  It turned into a wonderful five hour ride plus an hour spent at the stream for lunch.

We left her house towing two horses and arrived near the boundary of Yosemite National Park around noon.  After currying the horses and saddling up, we hit the trail.  It was great to be back up in the forest again after so long.  The trail follows a stream, sometimes along an old railroad bed.

There was much to see:  tributary creeks, the river itself, wildflowers, deer and more.  We stopped at one of the creek crossings for lunch.  It was beautiful and peaceful.  After our lunch stop, we took a different loop back to the truck.

We were on the trail for five hours and spent another hour or so at the creek.  Teri says we rode about fifteen miles.  Since I had ridden only around home here, that is by far the furthest I had ever ridden.  I enjoyed the time so very much that I didn't notice until we were back at the truck just how much time had elapsed.  It was a fantastic day!  Thank you, Teri!!

Teri always takes her dog Bluto with her on rides, and around home, Tawny has always gone with me.  This is only the second time Tawny has been in the forest, the first time being when she was still less than one year old.  She has always enjoyed water, and she laid down in the creeks at every turn.  I so much enjoy watching her antics.
