    Statue Of Liberty
    December 28, 2002

I am a country boy at heart and always have been.  Nevertheless, I have wanted to see some things that New York has to offer.  The only thing, though, that could have dragged me all the way across the country to a big city is the Statue Of Liberty.  I have called her The Green Lady all my life and have had a lifelong dream of seeing her and climbing up into the top.

Once on the island we were able to walk all around her and even up to the base, but as I already mentioned, no one is allowed inside anymore.  She is as beautiful as I had always imagined!

Though they no longer allow people to enter Liberty or even to walk inside of her base where the museum is, I was thrilled to be able to see her up close and personal.  We got there early and had purchased our tickets the previous day; so, we were able to get onto the first ferry to head out across the water to Liberty Island.

Part of the Liberty Island cruise is a stop at Ellis Island, and so we walked inside and saw the place where millions of immigrants had been processed and allowed entry into the United States of America.
