| | | | After deciding to see NYC, I made a rather lengthy list of things that I
would like to see around town. Near the top (after Liberty, of course) was the Empire State Building. After a total of about 45 minutes waiting in lines, we were let out onto the observation deck and got to see the entire city spread out before us. I have always loved high places, and this was worth the wait. |

| | | | Night time in NYC is the time to see Rockefeller Center, and Christmas time is the best of all. I was so excited to be able to see this famous Christmas tree and the ice skating rink that is seen in so many movies. |
|
 | | | We walked around Ground Zero, the place where the World Trade Center used to stand. It was a solemn occasion for me,
and I wasn't sure how I would feel viewing it. |
| |
| | | | All during our stay in New York we left the car in the parking lot. We used the subway and the bus system, and we did a LOT of walking. I was
surprised at how simple and clean the subway system is, despite what I had heard so many times. I enjoyed riding the subway and wish that every city could have such an excellent system of transporting people. |
|
 | | | One place that Denny insisted we experience is the Stage Deli. It is world famous, as you can tell from the lines outside. It is even more crowded inside. Though the tables are very small, the sandwiches are huge. We shared a "Katie Couric" and still didn't finish it. |

|
 | | | There are about a dozen Faberge Eggs in the Forbes Magazine Museum. They are beautiful. I had never seen any in person, and I very much enjoyed ogling these. This one is my favorite. | |
 | | | Times Square is always busy, but near New Year's Eve it becomes especially so. I don't
like crowds, but we braved the masses in order to see this place. We even ate a slice of pizza at a sidewalk cafe. In fact, we got the only two seats in the place. |
| |
| | | | Central Park was also on my
list, but I didn't expect to actually be able to take a carriage ride through it. The half hour ride showed us many of the famous buildings in the park. I had always figured that Central Park was one large "wilderness" of grass (or snow) and trees. |
