While he was visiting from Pennsylvania, of course we had to see the actual sights of Coarsegold and the surrounding areas.  Though there isn't all that much to do sometimes, what there is to do can be fun.

About the only real tourist attraction in Coarsegold itself is The Yosemite Gallery.  Inside are all kinds of souvenirs from Coarsegold, Yosemite, and the Sierra Nevada.  The lady who owns the place (Lorena) is very friendly and helpful.

Of course no visit of Coarsegold would be complete without actually panning for some of that coarse gold.  Though gold is still found in the creek itself, Denny decided to assure himself of striking it rich by buying into the setup at The Yosemite Gallery.

Yes, the World Famous Talking Bear!  How could I have Denny travel thousands of miles to visit without having him pose in front of this grizzly bear?  Poor ol' grizz isn't talkin' much these days, though.  He needs to be rewired.

And of course, during the loop through Coarsegold and Oakhurst and back to Coarsegold, we drove along Bass Lake.  This is a nice lake nestled among the pines.  Though swimming, boating and other activities are available, we simply walked on the beach for awhile.
