This was my second trip to Comdex, and I enjoyed this one better than last year.  Though the convention seemed to be smaller than last year, it had more of what I wanted to see and hear.  I attended several seminars and discussions, including ones on piracy and copyrights, future technologies, and computer security.

The night before Comdex opened, there was a Keynote Seminar presented by Bill Gates.  It was the first time that I had heard him speak, and it was interesting.  The Microsoft group made a fun and informative presentation.  After the seminar, there was a networking party.  I met some nice people, including two brothers from South Dakota and these three from Las Vegas (Jenny, Brett, and Bill).

The Comdex exhibits were informative and enjoyable.  Hundreds of companies crowd into the exhibit hall to present their latest and greatest hardware and software.  Much of it is brand new technology, and I learn by simply watching and listening.

During this trip to Vegas, I stayed at the Palace Station for the first time.  The glass fronted elevator had a view of Sunrise Mountain and the Stratosphere.  My room's view was of the strip itself.  While I was there, Max Baer (Jethro of "The Hillbillies") was promoting a new Hillbillies slot machine.

Monday ended with my winning a new Dell Axim X5 hand held Pocket PC.  It is a great little device.  I have been using a Handspring Visor for years, but this new system has more memory, a faster processor, and more abilities.
