Events from 2000

I attended three conventions in just five weeks.  It is the most conventions I have ever attended.  It was fun.  For two of the conventions, I got free hotel rooms from two casinos.  It sure was nice to enjoy such nice amenities without having to foot the bill.

One of my favorite free shows along the strip is the Pirate Battle in front of the Treasure Island.  I intentionally waited to view this show on the trip during which I stayed in a hotel across the street from it.  Little did I know that they would be closed during that time.

For the "Low Roller" visitor like me, there are many free shows you can view by simply walking along The Strip. The Bellagio Hotel and Casino puts on a free water show each half hour during the afternoon hours.  The first one I attended was played to The Star Spangled Banner.  It was amazing!   At times the water shot nearly a hundred feet into the air.  When each stream began, there was a sound like thunder which really highlighted the song.  During the quiet parts of the songs, the water swirled more quietly.

The Volcano in front of The Mirage Hotel lights up every fifteen minutes.  Since my motel room was right across the street from it, I could hear when it started and got a clear view of it.  It is even more impressive up close.
