Tim and I headed toward Jackass Lakes Saturday morning.  After hiking about 1.5 miles, we arrived at Norris Lake and stopped for a rest.  I fell asleep while Tim explored the lake.

My foot was bothering me, and so we decided to camp near this lake, rather than continue up the trail.  I am glad we did for several reasons.  First, the view of the lunar eclipse Sunday morning would be better from Norris than from Jackass.  Second, it was quieter at this lower lake, with no one around.  Third, there were no mosquitos near the lake or on the ridge where we set up camp.

The moon rose wonderfully bright and large, but within a few hours, clouds came in and obscured it.  So, we didn't get to see the lunar eclipse.  We headed out early Sunday morning, after breakfast.

After selecting our site, we relaxed and actually fell asleep for about an hour.  Then we went down to the lake and got some drinking water and relaxed on a rock out on the lake.  After returning to camp, we had dinner and headed to bed.   The mosquitos made a surprise visit during dinner.  I guess they figured to eat while we ate.

It was a short trip, but it was nice to be back up in the woods.  I didn't even realize how much I missed the solitude and quiet until I was up there sitting on a rock watching the birds.  So relaxing and peaceful.
