My New Love

Yes, after a decade and a half, I decided it was time to move on.  I still miss Toby and have wonderful memories of her, but I have found a new love.

My new love's name is Tenaya, but I call her "Tawny".  She has a wonderful mixture of red and blond hair which shines beautifully in the sunshine.  She has a great personality, but like me, she can be stubborn at times.  When it comes to a war of the wills, however, I usually win (not always), simply because I am bigger.

She and I enjoy taking walks together or going for a ride in the car.  I  enjoy simply sitting with her and watching the wildlife or the wind blowing, but Tawny usually gets bored rather quickly and wants to play around.  So, I tell her, "Go get your ball," and she will hunt for it and bring it back again and again until she is totally worn out.

I got Tawny from the local pound.  I visited that place several days before I found her.  When I first brought her home, she was probably about six weeks old and was rather small for her age.  At nine weeks of age, she wasn't much larger than the bottle I gave her as a toy.

When she saw her first snow at about four months of age, Tawny didn't know what to do with it.  As she ran, it would spray out in front of her, making her want to give chase.  But it disappeared into other snow as soon as it touched it.  But she seemed to love this weird, cold white stuff.

One of her favorite activities is to play in the ponds on the property.  She runs around the water for hours on end, diving in here and there.
