Building T.J.'s Corral

Preparation for T.J.'s corral included moving an old iron bathtub from the old horse corral to this new location.  Since the tub weighs four or five hundred pounds, this was no easy feat.  Corey helped me wrangle that thing up there (sorry, no photo of that), to be used by T.J. as a feed trough.

The hard work always seems to come first.  Driving posts was very easy, actually, when the ground was nice and soft.  But when the ground is decomposed granite, it takes about twenty hits to move the post down a single inch.

I like this shot, because Mitch drove the driver down faster than the camera could take the picture.  That is why the post driver looks long, curved and blurred.

The finished product!

The van is an old non-running clunker that was in a junkyard on the property.  T.J. will have his feed and tack inside for easy access.

Not only did Mitch help set up the corral.  He also supplied all the material for it.  The materials were from his previous corral when he was care taking in North Fork.
